South London Kinship Carers Cooking Club

Who we are

The South London Kinship Carers Cooking Club launched in January 2020, as a small South-east London community group. We now offer regular in person and online sessions to allow more kinship carers to join our cooking club sessions. As the cooking club is grant funded, there is no cost to kinship families.

For the in person sessions, we provide all the ingredients to cook our club menus.

For the virtual sessions, we deliver the ingredients and recipe card to kinship carers in South London (currently Lewisham, Southwark, Lambeth, Greenwich, Wandsworth and Bromley boroughs). For kinship carers nationwide that wish to join our virtual sessions, we will provide you a shopping list and recipe card in advance.

The cooking club is an opportunity for:

• children in kinship families to meet other children being raised by connected people
• kinship carers to access peer support to help reduce social isolation
• everyone to learn healthy, budget-friendly recipes and cook a family meal together

We also run a North London Kinship Carers Cooking Club and an employability program through our trading arm – Kinship Kitchen. We’re able to offer training, mentorship and ultimately flexible paid work opportunities to our kinship carer members.

Please note – Kinship children are invited to take part in all our cooking club sessions. We also hold meet-ups a few times a year where children’s activities are also provided.
