Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for kinship carers living in England and Wales. A kinship carer is someone who has stepped in to raise a child or children when their parents can’t.
The workshop is an introduction to both trauma and attachment. These topics are closely related and are often misunderstood.
You will find out how to relate these ideas to your kinship child or children, and understand how you can help in your role as their carer.
What will be covered?
The workshop will include information about:
- an introduction to trauma and attachment
- how to relate these ideas to the children you are caring for
- understand how you might help your kinship children with any difficulties they may be having
After the workshop you will receive a handout and the presentation slides via email along with a feedback survey.
Please note that Julia (the workshop facilitator) has worked with Kinship and kinship carers to develop this workshop. Julia is contracted for this workshop and others on ‘Managing contact’ and ‘Preparing for sensitive conversations with kinship children ’.
Kinship is not responsible for other content produced outside of these workshops.
